We had a special guest speaker at our September 2008 monthly meeting. Due to the expected number of attendees we held this meeting at the Jurupa Community Center at 4810 Pedley Rd. A big THANK YOU to our Parks District (Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District)for providing this location for us. Our guest speaker was George Spiliotis from LAFCO. He gave everyone an outline of the incorporation process along with answering some FAQs and dispelling some incorporation misunderstandings. He explained why the incorporation process ensures taxes do not get increased just by becoming a city.
Eastvale's first preliminary study went as far as Wineville and this upset many in Mira Loma, Sky Country, and others throughout Jurupa Valley. At one of our Town Hall meetings our County Supervisor stated that he had recommended that they look at three possible borders. (The original area called Eastvale stopped on the east side at Milliken/Hamner.) With their preliminary study going to Wineville and north only one street north of Limonite. We had hoped that they would pull back as a result of our concerns and study back to their historic border of Milliken/Hamner with a possible stretch as far as the 15 freeway. But instead of pulling back they announced they want to annex the entire 15 corridor all the way up to the 60 freeway and stay one street east of the freeway to have full control of the business corridor. This is not acceptable! What do you think?
